July 5th, Day 11

Today was a pretty calm day. Me and Jamie managed to find the pathomicrobiology department at the Peking University Health Science Center. It is significantly closer to Peking University than the Hospital we were assigned to before so that was a relief. It was there that we met our new professor, Dr. Lu. His research is on genome integration of the Hepatitis B virus. We met his lab members, which were all pretty cool, and got paired up with a graduate student named Byron. He doesn’t speak much English so its up to us to use our Chinese, however minimal it is. He gave us some background papers to read and Dr. Lu asked us to create a presentation of our previous research for a meeting on Friday. The rest of the day was spent reading and working on our presentation.
